The 2.5 gal. of juice in the kit was combined with 3.5 gal. of spring water, the bentonite packet, and oak chips. After it had its temperature taken and verified to be at an acceptable 70°F the specific gravity was measured at ~1.072 (the instructions asked for 1.070-1.085).
